Soft leather goods made with love in LA.

Once upon a time, I was a 22-year-old energy trader living in Houston, Texas. Working long hours and restless nights. I sat at a desk flanked by eight computer monitors and two phones, dutifully dealing megawatts on an electrical grid. After a couple of years of feeling pretty unfulfilled, I was ready for the next big thing. I took a leap of faith and enrolled at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles.

I was fascinated by the challenges of working with leather but also found myself romanticizing the balance of form and function of a design.

The first leather product I made was a bag for my mom for Christmas. A year later I started TONI.

Leather is a delicate puzzle and I love getting lost in it. I am drawn to the process of creating a product with meaning and purpose and fully embrace the philosophy of wabi-sabi as a lifestyle and design aesthetic. I encourage the celebration of leather’s natural imperfections and its aging and patina as beauty marks. Each piece is inspired by the art and people that surround me and is intended to be used, worn and tested so that they become an extension of one’s story.

Components of TONI’s products are all locally sourced and handcrafted in-house at the TONI Downtown Los Angeles studio.
